Dasvant is a noncommercial showcase for us to exhibit the work we have shot/done/distorted. It's our turn to get behind the camera. Sorry for the the glitches and mistakes.

Dasvant is derived from the word das[u]vant in Hittite language. It means blind. We have chosen it as a title for its obvious irony and as a small tribute to the cultural heritage of the land on which we live.

In 2000, Hans Haacke did a "Der Bevölkerung" job on a court of the Reichstag in the German Parliament Building. This letter, meaning "the people", expressed an objection to the article "Dem Deutschen Volke" on the front of the same building. Everybody who lives in Germany where the people mean. Der Bevölkerung settled that the prosecutors had brought the land of their own electoral districts and that these lands were spontaneous.

Images taken daily with the webcam are being broadcast on the internet. I think we can question the sincerity of Reichstag when you put the statistics of those deported from Germany in the same period to the images published so far.

Cappadocia or Katpatuka meaning Land of Beautiful Horses. It has a unique landscape. The documented history of Cappadocia goes back to 4000 years ago starting with Hittites. Some caves are still in use even today.

Our intention was to shoot the sunset. But we came back with a sunrise shot instead. The balloons were completely unexpected, a total surprise. They began to rise right after the sunrise. We extended our shooting time in order to include them in the sequence.

Our dream was a star trail shot at the fairy chimneys of Cappadocia. We did location scouting during the day to get the pole star in the frame and decided to that Pasabagi Zelve was the most appropriate spot. The moonlight was very helpful. A local dog accompanied us during the shooting and then fell asleep. It was still sleeping when we were leaving.

It's impossible to turn back the clock or stop the time (for now?), but we can imagine it. As we leave a year behind, we'd like to say 'why not'.

The shoot was done in February 2011 within the scope of a project, waiting since then. 'Time' writings at the background was done by custom bokeh.
